Favorite Outdoor Activities:
Everything.... Sea Kayaking, Kitesurfing, Orienteering, Adventure racing and more. If there is challenge involved, I'll give it a go.
Wilderness Emergency Medical Specialty:
I love the human dynamic's element of working together in emergency situations. Teamwork, Leadership and getting the most out of ourselves as humans makes for better outcomes for our casualties. I also work helping to maintain the WEMSI kit and also setting up and managing the scenario's we use outdoors to bring the theory, practical's and WEMSI message to as close to real life as we can. Certainly, when I first trained as a WEMT, it was the scenarios that really resonated with me.
Favourite Outdoor Snack:
OOOH Thick Minestrone soup! I'll run and cycle all day for you with a dose of that!.
Unusual hot tip to stay safe and be better prepped on your next adventure:
Leave nothing to chance, planning, lists, detail, double and treble check. Once I have this in place, I can focus on the adventure, those around me and enjoy nature more, safe in the knowledge I have done all I can to mitigate and lower any potential risks.
Guilty Pleasure:
I do like a drop of Jameson at the Campfire after a great day's adventure.
